Biography

WALTER HARVEY WOOD was born 4 Nov 1857 on 9 Prospect Street in Worcester, MA and died 14 Mar 1938 in Lynn at age 80. (In 1880 US Fed Census shows Walter was single and lived with the West family. He was wheelwright. He married HELEN LOUSIA SMITH, daughter of Benjamin Franklin Smith and Susannah K. Webber on 16 Aug 1882 in Worcester, MA. She was born 13 Jul 1862 on 18 Elliot Street in Worcester, MA and died 24 Aug 1957 in Lynn at age 95. Helen probably never knew about her father Benjamin F. Smith in her life and lived with her mother Susannah at her grandparents Thomas and Nancy Webber until her mother remarried and moved to NY, MN and Missouri. Helen (old age) told the stories about Jesse James she saw in real person and also Buffalo Bill Cody when she was young. No idea how she ended up in Worcester, MA while her mother lived in Michigan with her 6 half siblings. It looked like that she and her mother did not contact each other again. Her mother’s obituary did not mention about her, but it stated that her youngest daughter mentioned that her mother had married 1st husband Ben Franklin Smith who was killed in the war and never exited on her oldest sister Helen. That’s sad. Helen and Walter are buried at Pine Grove Cemetery in Lynn, MA. They had 5 children. 5th child – MARY ELIZABETH 1) Charles Ezra Wood was born 15 Oct 1882 in Boston, MA and died unknown. He was 5’ 5 ½” tall and was married with a son. He was a milkman and lived in Tipp, Indiana then Chicago, IL. His son lived in AZ and had no children. No issue 2) John Harvey Wood was born 26 Oct 1883 in Boston, MA and died of diabetes on 26 or 28 Oct 1964 at age 81 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was buried at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta. He married twice and had no children. He owned his printing shop as a printer in Atlanta, Georgia. No issue. 3) Elsie Edna was born 23 July 1891 in Lynn, MA and died unknown. She married __?__ Smith and had a son Elmer Smith. No information. 4) Helen Louisa was born 1894 in Lynn, MA and died unknown. She married George Robinson and had a daughter Lola Marie. Lola (1925 – 2010 of Alzheimer) married Donald MacKay (d. June 15, 2017 at age 96 of Alzheimer) and had 2 daughters Carol and Diane and a granddaughter. They are buried at Pine Grove Cemetery. No issue. ^[1]
