Thomas Wood was born on 25 Oct 1787 in Framlingham, Suffolk, England to parents Thomas Wood and Sarah Gunson ("of Dallinghoe, Suffolk"). He was baptized on 24 Dec 1787 in Framlingham, Suffolk, England by Saml. Say Toms, Protestant Dissenting Minister.[1][2][3]
He was arrested for house breaking in 1820 and came to trial on 24 Jul 1820. He received a life sentence at Kent for house breaking and was sentenced to transportation. He arrived on 12 Mar 1821 in Sydney, Australia on ship "Dick", Master Harrison. He received a conditional pardon in 1836.[4]
He may have been married before 1820. Research needed.
At age 50 he married Mary McInerney on 23 Aug 1837 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia at St Mary's Catholic Church.
Children: Abraham, Andrew, Thomas Joseph, Mary Ann, John Patrick, Sophia Jane, James, Sarah Anne, Ambrose, Elizabeth.
He died on 1 Jan 1873 in Grenfell, New South Wales, Australia.[5] He was buried in the Young Cemetery, Young, New South Wales, Australia.[6]
His wife Mary died on 7 Mar 1882 and was buried next to him.[7]
