Jane was born about 1780, the daughter of George Wood and Ann Foxton. I haven't located a birth record yet for Jane but there is one for this couple's daughter Ann Wood and the record lists Jane Wood's parents. In the 1851 Census record Jane is listed as born in 1780 in Kirkby Moorside. Jane married Joseph Wood her first cousin in 1803. Their fathers, joseph and George Wood were brothers. The couple had at least three children and lived on their farm in Sleightholm-dale. In the 1841 and 1851 Census records they had handed over the farm to their son Jonadab Wood. Their other son George , who hadn't married, lived on the farm as well. Daughter Ann Wood married Kirkby Moorside miller Lancelot Hardy and emigrated to Canada in the 1840's. Jane passed away in 1857, four years after her husband, likely at Sleightholm-dale but the registration district was Helmsley.
