Biography

Enoch was born in 1835 to Richard Wood and Martha.[1]

In 1851 16 year-old Enoch is working as a silk piecer, living in Sandbach with his father Richard, step-mother Mary and six siblings.

At the age of 24 Enoch married 20 year-old Sarah Jones on 26 September 1859 in the parish church of Sandbach, Cheshire. He signed his own name and Sarah made her mark. The ceremony was witnessed by their brothers Elisha Wood and Jacob Jones [2]

In 1881 46 year-old Enoch was living at 68 High Street, Wheelock with his wife Sarah and working as an engine tester at a silk mill. Their three sons are at home and also Sarah's nephew John Jones aged 17 [3]
