Ward was born 5 Jun 1918 in Manchester, New Hampshire,^[1] and died on 13 May 1991. He had a military burial in Virginia, United States.^[2]

Ward married Dorothy Corinne Vanaman on 14 November 1942 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States.^[3]

Ward was in the Air Force from 22 June 1942 until he retired on 31 July 1967.^[4]

Ward's obituary was published on 15 May 1991 in Vineland, New Jersey, United States. He died (age 72) in about 1991 in Millville Division.^[5] :Transcription:

"WARD D. WOOD, 72. Former State School executive Ward D. Wood of Millville died Friday in South Jersey Hospital System, Millville Division, after an extended illness. He was 72. Born in Manchester, N.H., Mr. Wood had resided in Millville for the past 24 years. Prior to retirement in 1967, he served in the Air Force earning the rank of colonel. He served during World War II in the European Theater, was an aeronautical engineer and held the rank of master missile man. Mr. Wood also worked as a supervisor at Wheaton Transportation and Warehouse for four years and the State of New Jersey as an executive assistant for 10 years at the Vineland State School. A life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, he was also a member of the American Legion and the Retired Officers Association. He served as a Boy Scout leader in California and Massachusetts. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; a son, James of Millville, a sister, Olive Ring of Hampton, N.H.; and two grandchildren. Services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday in the Barbetti Funeral Home. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 239, Vineland 08360.
