Mary Wood, daughter of Joseph Wood, a cloth draper. She married Joseph Lockwood on 9 Apr 1849 in Halifax, West Yorkshire, England. Mary was living in Northowram, Yorkshire at the time she married per marriage record.

She immigrated to the US in 1851 aboard the packet clipper ship Irmiata. With her was her new born son, Joseph & niece Ellen Lockwood. They settled in Trenton, NJ & were soon reunited with her husband & other family members.

Mary had two children with Joseph, Joseph Charles & Alice. She lived in Trenton along with her family & two sister in laws & a brother in law. Mary kept a fairly youthful appearance throughout her life based on letters written by her daughter Alice. She died in Trenton in 1898 at the age of 80. She is buried in Riverview Cemetery in Trenton along with her husband who preceded her in death by three years.
