James Woodall was age 10, son, living in the household of his parents, James and Emma Woodall in the 1900 census of Nicholas County, Kentucky. [2]

Jas. W. Woodall age 23, was hired on 27 November 1912 by the L & N Railroad to work as a switchman. [3]

World War I draft registration: "James William Woodall, age 26, b. Oct 28, 1890 in Nicholas Co., KY; switchman for the L & N RR; single with no dependents. Tall, medium build, brown eyes & hair. Home address 1321 Main, Paris, KY. [4]

James W. Woodall served in World War I as a Private in Co M 17 Infantry. Enlisted July 15, 1918. Went to basic training at Camp Meade, Maryland and stayed stateside in Supply Co. 17th Infantry, 11th Division. Discharged January 24, 1919.[5][6][7]

James W. Woodall married Anna Kate Conners 2 July 1919 by J.T. Sharrard. Witness: J.W. Woodall, Mrs. Lula Woodall. [8] Newspaper announcement of the wedding. Lexington Herald (Lexington, Kentucky) 3 July 1919, p 10 Paris, KY, July 2 County Clerk Pearce Paton Wednesday issued a marriage license to James W. Woodall and Miss Annie Kate Connor, both of Carlisle.

Lute and Anna Kate had five children: Emma M.; Evelyn; Berry Connor; James William Jr; and Eloise.

He was a farmer and resided Henryville, Nicholas County, Kentucky in 1930. [9]

Lute Woodall died 1959 in Paris, Bourbon County, Kentucky.[10]
