Biography

Lydia Woodard was the daughter of Luke and Sarah (Parker) Woodard. She married Francis Thomas on May 10, 1807, at the Contentnea Meeting House in Wayne County, North Carolina.

(Francis Thomas) He was married to Lydia Woodward, and had eight children: 1. Mary, who was married, first, to Ahira Ballard; second, to Eli Hadley, and lives in Clinton Co. 2. Luke, to Mildred Fulghum. 3. Sarah, to Joseph Hubbard, and died here; he lives in Missouri. 4. Absellit, to Rollin Green; settled in Clinton Co., and died in 1871. 5. John, to Smithy Newsome, and lives at Azalia, Ind. 6. Francis W., to Rebecca Corbitt, and lives in Henry Co. 7. Lydia, to Joseph B. Mills, and died in Hamilton Co.; he resides at Xenia, Ind. 8. Isaac, to Mahala Hadley. 9. Clarkson, to Sarah Jane Pitts, and lives on the homestead.

Whereas, Francis Thomas, son of John Thomas, of Marlboro District, South Carolina, And Lydia Woodard, daughter of Luke Woodard, of Wayne, County, State of North Carolina, having laid their intentions of marriage before several Monthly Meetings of the people called Quakers, consent of parents and parties concerned being first had; Now this may certify to all whom it may concer, that for the full accopising of their said intentions on this 10th day of Fifth month, one thoutand eight hundered and seven, They, the said Francisc Thomas and Lydia Woodard, appeared at public assembly fo the aforesaid people met together at their meetig house at Contentnea, and he , the said Francisc Thomas, takeing the said Lydia Woodard by the hand, did openley....
