Biography

Jerusha Woodard was born about 1824 in New York State. She was the daughter of Enos and Anna (Valentine) Woodard. [1] [2]

Jerusha married Alonzo Olmstead on January 5, 1840 in Lapeer. Her brother Enoch had previously married Alonzo’s sister Maria and the two were witnesses to the marriage. [3]

In 1840, they were farming in Lapeer, Lapeer County, Michigan. In 1850 they were on a small farm with two milk cows and two other cattle. They had three children: Calvin, Betsey, and William born in 1850. [4] [5] [6]

Her husband died sometime before 1856.

On October 31, 1856, Jerusha married again to Charles Ford in Hadley, Lapeer County, Michigan. In 1860, they were in Hadley, Michigan (P. O. Farmers Brook). [7] [8]

Her husband Charles Ford, at the age of 44, enlisted in the First Regiment Michigan Engineers and Mechanics and never made it home. He died May 5, 1864 in the Small Pox hospital at Bridgeport, Alabama and was buried in Chattanooga National Cemetery. [9] [10]

Jerusha Ford died April 28, 1864 in Hadley, Lapeer County, Michigan. She is buried in Hadley Community Church Cemetery, Hadley, Lapeer County, Michigan. [11]
