Josiah was born in 1855 in Alabama[1]. He was the son of John Woodham and Amanda Ard. The family was living in Alabama in 1870[2].
About 1876, he married Ella Augusta Cobb and they had 11 children:

From 1900-20, the family was living in Covington County, Alabama[3][4][5]. After Ella's death in 1927, Josiah continued to live in Covington County, Alabama[6]. In 1940, he was living with his daughter Era Mae and her family in Covington County, Alabama[7].
He passed away in 1942. Burial was in the Bethel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Babbie, Covington, Alabama[8].
