Arthur William Woodman was born in 1867 in Lucknow, Victoria, Australia, the son of Ann (Phillips) Woodman and Mathew Woodman.^[1]

He married Emma Theresa Millard in 1894 in Victoria.^[2] Their children were:^{[citation needed]}
