Biography

Philip was born in 1741. He passed away in 1819.

His will #3300 Northampton, PA: The edges of the will are not readable so I put --- to indicate; In the name of God Amen, I Philip Woodring of Williams Township in the County of Northampton and State of Pennsylvania, Blacksmith, being old but of sound mind and memory and understanding and knowing that is appointed for all men once to die do make this my last will and testament to wit. First that all my just debts i may have shall be paid after my decease. I do order and direct that all my household furniture shall be in the full enjoyment of my dear wife ---Elizabeth, and after her decease the same shall be sold by my executors except her -- chest which shall be deliveredd to my daughter after --of Elizabeth and by them divided in equal shares-- and I have by deeds conveyed unto my two sons Philip and Nicholas a certain tract of land in Lazerne County each one equal undivided half land thereof--said piece to conveyed to my said son Philip. He is to consider it his full share and dividend out of my estate. And further to my wife I give and bequeath one hundred dollars to be paid to her out of the first money that my said Executors shall receive--and all the rest and residue of my estate I do order and order shall be divided in equal shares among Abraham Woodring, Nicholas Woodring, Jacob Woodring, John Woodring the heirs of my son William deceased and ---daughters Anna the wife of George Drum, and Elizabeth the wife of Jacob Stonebach, each (several words unreadable but looks like some of children were on books for debts and these debts were to be subtracted from their shares) And Lastly I hereby nominate--and appoint my two sons Nicholas and Abraham Executors.... Will signed 26 Feb 1816. Will proved 8 May 1819.

dates are a little off but that might be the difference between baptismal records and burial records
