Biography

Birth

Samuel Woodruff, was born in 1758 in Washington, Connecticut to John Woodruff IV and his wife Abigail Curtis. He was baptized there 18 July 1762[1]

Marriage

Samuel Woodruff and Molly/Margery Curtis, 'both of Washington', married in Washington, Conn, on Dec. 9, 1779.[2][3]

Removal to Vermont

Sometime after 1830, Samuel and Molly removed to Chittenden County, Vermont, then crossed Lake Champlain to end up in Essex County, New York.[1]

Children

Samuel and Molly Woodruff had:[1]

  • Annis, b. 6 Aug 1780 in Washington, m. Philo Strong of Charlotte, Vermont 18 Mar 1800.
  • Samuell, b. 1785
  • Curtiss, b. 1 Nov 1790

Research Notes

Cautionary Note: This Samuel Woodruff has been confused with another Samuel, born two years later on 19 Feb 1760 in Farmington. That man was the son of Samuel, not John.Farmington, Connecticut.[4]
