July 3, 1957: DeKalb Junction - On Tuesday, July 2, only one day after arriving to spend a vacation with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Hance, DeKalb Junction, James Woods, 4, of Syracuse died at the E. J. Noble Hospital in Canton; Death was sudden resulting from a heart condition, aggravated by a cold. The boy was stricken suddenly, rushed to the hospital and death occurred at six a.m., Tuesday. James was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wods, Jr., Syracuse. Funeral services wil be held at St. Henry's Roman Catholic Church, DeKalb Junction, at 10 a.m. on Thursday. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Ogdensburg. The child was born on May 9, 1953, at Syracuse, his mother being the former Mary Ellen Cayen. Surviving besides his parents are five sisters, two brothers, and the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Woods, Sr., all of Syracuse.
