Joseph Woods was born on 1 March 1874 in County Armagh, Ireland. Parents Andrew Woods and Margaret Mallon.

Joseph Woods (23) fireman in a factory from Cornascreeb, married Margaret Jeffers (22) on 27th July 1896 at the Registry's Office, Armagh, County Armagh, Ireland. Fathers Andrew Woods (mechanic) and William Jeffers (merchant). Witnesses William McClure and Margaret Jeffers. [1] [2] [3]

On 31 March 1901 the Woods family lived Cornascrieb, Mullahead, Co Armagh. Joseph Woods (28) General Labourer & Margaret Woods (26) with daughters, Elizabeth Woods (4) & Esther Sophia Woods (1).[4]

On 2 April 1911 Joseph Woods (38) Loft Man Factory & Margaret Woods (36) married 14 years with 5 children born & living. With Lilly Woods (14) Milliner, Esther Sophia Woods (11), William Joseph Woods (8), Maggie Flora Woods (6) & John Andrew Woods (3). All Presbyterian, lived in Cornascreeb, Mullahead, Co. Armagh, Ireland. [5]

Emigration: On 31 December 1926 he emigrated from England bound for Australia with wife Maggie and children Florrie & Jack. Eldest daughter Lilly had migrated there from New Zealand in 1923. Daughter Esther & son William stayed in Northern Ireland.[6]

They started their new life in Australia, settling in Ballarat Rd, Footscray North, Victoria.
