Adam was born 9 June 1803 in Pennsylvania. His father was killed while in Kentucky by Indians while he was less than a year old.[1][2]
He married Margaret Campbell in 1827 and moved immediately to Adams County, Pennsylvania where he opened a tailor shop. They had several children[3] and later packed their wagon and moved to Ohio[4]continuing as a tailor.[5][6] followed later by another move to Indiana.[7]
