Biography
Benjamin Irvin Woodward was born on 18 January 1925 in Washington, Harrison, Indiana, United States. He was the son of Ben Woodward and Alma Daily.[1] In the 1930 census Ben (age 5) was the son of Ben Woodward in Washington, Harrison, Indiana, United States.[2] In the 1940 census Ben (age 15) was the single son of Ben Woodward in Washington, Harrison, Indiana.[3]
Ben registered for the draft on his 18th birthday on 18 January 1943 in Central, Harrison, Indiana, United States. He was still a student at New Amsterdam High School.[4] He enlisted in the US Navy on 23 June 1943 in Louisville, Kentucky. On 31 January 1944 he was a seaman 2nd class on the submarine chaser SC-1045.[5] He was discharged on 10 February 1946.[6]
In the 1950 census Ben (age 25), Labor Foreman, was the married head of household in Washington, Harrison, Indiana, United States.[7]
Ben died (age 54) on 25 August 1979 in Jefferson County, Kentucky.[8][9] He was buried in New Amsterdam Cemetery in New Amsterdam, Indiana, USA.[10]
