Biography

Thomas Woodward was born about 1700.[1] He was the son of Daniel Woodward and Elizabeth Dana. He was also the nephew of the John Woodward who was born on 28 March 1649.[1]

He married Dorothy Parke on 18 May 1725 in Preston, New London County, Connecticut.[1][2][3][4]

They had the following children:[1][2][4]

  2. Joanna Woodward, b. 8 Feb 1729
  3. Hezekiah Woodward, b. 20 May 1732
  4. Dorothy Woodward, b. 28 Nov 1734
  5. Jonas Woodward, bp. 25 May 1737
  6. Mary Woodward, bp. 14 Jun 1741, m. Benjamin Main
  7. Caleb Woodward, b. about 1744, d. 18 Jul 1814, m. Aliff Hilliard
  8. Thomas Woodward
  9. Elkanan Woodward

Thomas signed his will on 13 April 1776. He died sometime before his will was proven on 22 July 1778. The probate inventory of his estate was taken on 3 December 1778.[5]

His will mentions his wife Dorothy and his children Parke, Hezekiah, Jonas, Caleb, Thomas, Joanna, Dorothy, and Mary.[5]

Woodward-8011 and Woodward-250 appear to represent the same person because: Same parents and death date, 1700 seems the more realistic birth year based on death being in about 1778
