Reverend Alsop Park Vail Woodward was born in Orange County, New York, in 1804. He married Elizabeth Catherine Pope, of Bluffton, South Carolina, on 1 February 1841. Alsop was a graduate of Union College, New York, and was a Clergyman of the Episcopal Church. He died at Danfuskis Island, South Carolina, in November, 1858.
