DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jonathan by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jonathan:

Hi Brian McCullough,

Thanks for posting this well-documented profile! But I do have a question about how you determined who the parents are for this Jonathan Woodward? I see you have his death date from your citation in your footnote 8. I found an additional death record at AmericanAncestors.org that also listed his age at 59 at time of death. Here is the citation: Name: Jonathan WOODWARD Death: 1745 Location: Newton, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States Original Text: Jonathan, Mr., Apr. 2, 1745. [Woodard, a. 59, P. R. 1. ] Town Info: Newton Volume Name: Newton - V1 Page: 520

Massachusetts: Vital Records, 1620-1850 (Online Database: AmericanAncestors.org , New England Historic Genealogical Society, 2001-2016). https://www.americanancestors.org/DB190/rd/7772/520/141629614

That would mean he was born in 1685 or 1686 and it does work with the birth record in your footnote 1. So they are likely the same Jonathan Woodward, however, I would feel more confident about it if there were any other corroborating sources. Have you found any other evidence? I haven't so far. I'm interested because he is my husband's 6th great-grandfather.

Thanks, Brenda Breed
