Deborah Woodworth was born in July 1682 in Scituate, Plymouth Colony and was baptized on July 16, 1682.[1] Her parents were Benjamin Woodworth and Deborah Unknown.[2]

She married Ephraim Sprague in 1704.[3] Together they had 8 children:

  1. Peleg Sprague[4]
  2. Irene Sprague[5]
  3. Deborah Sprague[6]
  4. Elizabeth Sprague[7]
  5. Mary Sprague[8]
  6. Mary Sprague[9]

  8. Perez Sprague[11]

She died in 1726 in Lebanon, New London, Connecticut Colony.[12]

Research Notes

The parent's of Deborah remains a bit of a mystery. Dr. Warren Vincent Sprague identifies her father as Benjamin but there are at least nine by that name.

"Descendants of Walter Woodworth of Scituate, Mass.", by William Atwater Woodworth, page 18 shows Deborah, daughter of Benjamin, son of Walter, son of Walter as marrying "Sprague". However, Ephraim Sprague was born in 1685 and had his first child in 1705. Benjamin, son of Walter was only 31 in that year making it unlikely that his daughter could be the wife of Ephraim and a mother.
