Unsourced comment from https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Fildes-57: I believe this information is wrong. "Mathias was with the British forces under Cornwallis and was present at the surrender of Yorktown. Upon his capture, he chose to become a U.S. citizen and settled on the south branch of the Potomic River: from VA Genealogist VOL 15 No 2 Apr-Jun Pg 156-157." You can find this information online at ancestry and other places. Mathias' Father is Jacob Woolam who born and died in Berkely West Virginia. I will be uploading a deed and will record to prove this.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Matthias by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Matthias:

Ulm-158 and Woolam-13 appear to represent the same person because: These two men are the same persons. I tried also to get his son Edward Ulm Ulm 157 to Edward Woolum-71 last March 2021. Please merge them.

Ulm-18 and Woolam-13 appear to represent the same person because: Obvious duplicates. I cannot find any records listing Ulm though some of his siblings and descendants used that spelling.
