Biography

He served as a soldier in the American Revolution. He appears on the marriage record for his daughter Nancy to May Burton. He is also listed as the father on Nancy and Agnes' Find-a-Grave memorials


Will of Joseph Woolfolk Shelby Co., Kentucky - dated 4 Jun 1844 & probated Sep 1845 Shelby County, Kentucky Probate Records, Will Book 16, pages 230-231.

I Joseph Woolfolk of the County of Shelby & State of Kentucky being of sound mind and memory, having a wish to dispose of the estate which I may have on hand at my death and having made ample provision for the Mentainance (sic) of my beloved wife, I will and desire as fellows, to wit:

I give to each & all of my children all the property, both real and personal which I have put into their hands previous to this time. My daughter Mary Collins and her children (at her death) to have the land which they now live on in the state of Missouri.

I give to my grandson Dabney C. Waller all the proceeds of my farm, that have accrued since he came to live with me with all the stock, both horses, cattle, hogs, sheep & farming Eutensils (sic), household and kitchen furniture.

I give to my grandson Joseph W. Elliott my Negro man Stephen and Negro woman Weney.

I will that all the balance of my estate to be divided equally between my children, the children of my deceased children to represent their deceased parents.

I make William Elliott and Dabney C. Waller my executors.

As witness whereof I set me hand and seal this fourth day of Jun 1844.

Whereas I Joseph Woolfolk of Shelby Co., Ky do direct his codicil and direct the same to be annexed. If my wife Mary should live longer than myself the Negroes and personal property should remain as they are in the possession of Dabney C. Waller for the support of my beloved wife Mary.

The Will and Codicil of Joseph Woolfolk, decd, was presented in court and proven by William Welch and William Gregg. Dabney C. Waller and William Elliott took the oaths of executor and posted bond of $8,000
