Robert, child of Jacob and Margaret, died in 1869 in Richmond River, New South Wales.[1]
The Maitland Mercury and Hunter River General Advertiser (NSW : 1843 - 1893) Tue 13 Apr 1869 Page 4 [2] Death from Fright. - A magisterial inquiry was recently held at Wyrallah, Richmond River, concerning the death of a boy named Robert Woolley. The deceased, a lad about 12 years of age, it appeared, came home one evening, and said he thought he had been bitten by a snake on the foot. The part was examined, but no marks of a bite could be found ; deceased, however, became very ill, and died in three days. Dr. Markey gave evidence that he had that day made a post mortem examination of the body of Robert Woolley; he found nothing abnormal except the bladder, which contained a little bloody urine ; he found nothing to account for his death ; a place was pointed out to him on the foot, as where he was supposed to have been bitten by a snake - there was no mark, he could not have been bitten there; the only cause which he could assign for his death was fright. A verdict was returned in accordance with the medical testimony.[3]
Robert was mentioned on a memorial in Wyrallah Cemetery, Wyrallah with a death date of 28 March 1869.[4]
