Biography

Sarah "Sally" Woolley was born about 1838 in Indiana, the daughter of James Woolley. Salle married Allan Ramsay.

In 1850, she was attending school in Republican, Indiana. 1850 Census, Republican, Indiana, Sallie was living with with her siblings, David and John, and 50-year-old Ann Wallace. (1850-census)

Allen Ramsey and Sallie Woolley were married on 27 augustv1861 in Jefferson County, Indiana. J.W. Scott, minister of the Gospel, officiated. [1]

In 1870, the Ramsays lived on their farm in Hanover, Jefferson, Indiana. Their real estate was valued at $3500, and their personal estate was valued at $675. All members of the household were born in Indiana. The household included Allen Ramsay, 41, a farmer; his wife, Sarah, 32; their children, John, 7, in school; Frank, 5; and Annie, 2. Also, Ellen Temple, 17, housekeeper, and a student. [2]

In 1880, the Ramsay family lived in Hanover, Jefferson, Indiana. The household included Allen Ramsay, 52, a farmer; his wife, Sarah, 42; their children, all in school, John, 17; Frank, 15; Anna, 12; and Glendora, 10. Also, Ellen Temple, 24, housekeeper; and three male boarders, all students, aged 17-18. [3]

In 1900, the Ramsay family lived in Hanover, Hanover Township, Jefferson, Indiana. All members of the household were born in Indiana, and all could read and write. The family included Albert (Allen) Ramsay, 72, born in Oct. 1828, a hack driver; his wife of 38 years, Sarah, 63, b. Nov. 1837, who had had six children, four of whom were living; their daughters, Annie, 32, b. Nov. 1868; and Glendora, 30, b. June 1870, a teacher. Also, Allen’s brother in law, John Woolden (Woolley), 70, a farmer. [4]

Burial: Hanover Cemetery, Hanover, Indiana, with husband and other family. [5]
