Lilla May Woolsey was born 9 Jun 1867 in Bloomington, Grant, Wisconsin, USA,[1] the oldest of the 6 children of George W. Woolsey and Flora Elizabeth Baker.[2][3]

Marriage

Lilla May Woolsey married Fred Winslow Fellows, the son of Richard Rathbone Fellows and Celia Emma Maddox, on 15 June 1887 in Lyons, Walworth, Wisconsin, USA.[4]

Death

Lilla May Woolsey, aged 83, died 13 Feb 1951 at her daughter's house in Hebron, McHenry, Illinois.[2] She was buried in Lyons Quaker Cemetery in Lyons at the side of her husband Fred Winslow Fellows, who died 6 months earlier on 9 Oct 1950 in Lyons, Walworth, Wisconsin.[6]

MRS. FRED FELLOWS, SERVICES AT LYONS, SATURDAY AFTERNOON

Mrs. Fred W. Fellows, Sr., 84, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Donald Stewart, at Hebron, Ill., on February 13, following an illness of about four months. A heart attack was the immediate cause of death.

She was born June 9, 1867 in Grant County [Wis.], a daughter of George and Elizabeth Woolsey. She lived in Iowa until 18 years of age when she came to Walworth County and made her home with Mrs. P.G. Healy [her Aunt Phebe Griffen Baker Healy] at Lyons. She was educated at West Union, Iowa.

In 1887, she was married to Fred W. Fellows who died last October 9. She is survived by eight children, Mrs. R.W. Stewart [Beth], Mrs. D.H. Stewart [Dot] of Hebron, Ill., Mrs. K.E. Whitman [Sue], Evanston, Mrs. R.E. Piper [Carma], Racine, Mrs. Stewart Ellsworth [Phebe], Lyons, Keith of Lyons, Warner of Springfield and Richard of Townsend, Wis. There are 16 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Two brothers, C.E. and W.F. Woolsey of Delevan also survive.

Funeral services were held at Lyons Methodist church Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock with Rev. Woehl officiating.

The pallbearers were grandchildren, John, Fred, Bruce and Jimmie Stewart, Charles Fellows and David Ellsworth. Burial was in the Lyons cemetery.

She was a member of the Lyons Methodist church and the American Legion auxiliary. She and her husband celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on June 15, 1950.

FELLOWS, MRS. FRED, LYONS, WISCONSIN

Age 83. Passed away Feb. 13 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Donald H. Stewart [Dot] in Hebron, Illinois. She was born on June 9, 1867. She was married to Fred W. Fellows in Lyons, on June 15, 1887, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 1950.

She was a member of the M. E. Church in Lyons. Surviving are five daughters: Mrs. R.W. Stewart [Beth] and Mrs. Donald H. Stewart [Dot], both of Hebron, Ill.; Mrs. Stewart Ellsworth [Phebe] of Lyons, Wis.; Mrs. K. E. Whitman of Evanston, Ill.: and Mrs. R.E. Piper of Racine; three sons, Keith, of Lyons, Wis.; Warner, of Springfield, Wis.; and Richard Fellows of Townsend, Wis.; two brothers, C. E. Woolsey and W. J. Woolsey, both of Delavan, Wis.; 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday 2 p. m. in the Methodist Church in Lyons. Interment will be in the Lyons Cemetery. Friends may call at the McCarthy Funeral Home in Burlington, Wis., Friday from 3 p.m. and until 12 noon on Saturday.

Anniversary

GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY HONORED AT FARM HOME

LYONS, Wis., June 17 (Special) – Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fellows on Tuesday observed the 50th anniversary of their marriage. Relatives and friends visited them during the day, and tea, coffee and wedding cake were served. The couple received many gifts in addition to a variety of beautiful bouquets.

Mr. and Mrs. Fellows have resided on a farm near Lyons ever since their marriage. Their children, all of whom were home for the anniversary are Mrs. Robert Stewart [Beth], Mrs. Donald Stewart [Dot] and Warner Fellows of Hebron, Ill.; Keith, who lives with his parents; Mrs. Stuart Ellsworth [Phebe], Elkhorn; Mrs. Kenneth Whitman [Sue], Chicago; Mrs. Russell Piper [Carma], Racine, and Richard Fellows of Honey Creek. Fourteen grandchildren also were present.
