Mary was a Friend (Quaker)

Biography

Mary was the daughter of John Woolston of Bucks County. She was raised as a member of the Society of Friends and a member of Middletown Monthly Meeting when she married Samuel Smith there in 1763. She and Samuel were members of Buckingham Monthly Meeting when he wrote in his memoirs "12th of the 8th month, 1774, the friends set of for Philadelphia, and I with my wife went to her father's, and stayed the meeting at Middletown next day." Mary's birth date has yet to be found and is here estimated by the time she first married and her husband's birth year of 1737.
