Biography
Green Columbus Ward was born the 24th of August, 1843,[1] in Lumpkin county, Georgia. Green is the son of Edward Ward and Sarah Ann Thompson.
Green, age 6, appears in the 1850 Federal census Lumpkin county, Georgia in the household of his mother, Sarah Ward.[2]
Green, age 15, appears in the 1860 Federal census in White county, Georgia in the household of his step-father James Colley.[3]
Green served in the Confederate army during the Civil War as a Private in Co. B, 52 Regiment Georgia Infantry.[4]
Green married Emeline Holcombe on the 5th of September, 1867 in White county, Georgia.[5]
Green appears in the 1880 Federal census in Pickens county, Georgia.[6] Green's household appeared as follows:
- Green Ward age 38
- Emaline Ward age 34
- Rosetta Ward age 12
- Sarah A. Ward age 10
- Floyed Ward age 8
- Martha J Ward age 6
- Adison Ward age 4
- Ward Ward age 1
Green appears in the 1900 Federal census in Cherokee county, Alabama, with his surname listed as "Wood" instead of Ward.[7] Green's household appeared as follows:

Green, age 66, Widower, appears in the 1910 Federal census (enumerated the 23rd of April, 1910) in Jefferson county, Alabama in the household of his son-in-law Eugene Campbell.[8]
Green married Viola Taunton on the 2nd of July, 1910 in Jefferson county, Alabama.[9]
Green died the 30th of May, 1915, in Jefferson county, Alabama. Green is buried in the Old Enon Cemetery, Birmingham, Jefferson county, Alabama.[10]
