Biography

Catherine Bear Worden was born in 1830 in Egloshayle, Cornwall, England to Francis Worden and Elizabeth (Lobb) Warden. She was christened on 30 May 1830 in Egloshayle.[1]

In 1841 Cathrine Worden (age 11) lived at Egloshayle Road in Egloshayle with her father Francis (35, B Man), mother Elizabeth (35), and two sisters: Marguretta (8) and Elizabeth (3).[2]

In 1851 Catherine Worden (age 21, House Servt) lived at Dennis' Lane in ? [St Columb registration district], Cornwall in the household of her employer James Oliver.[3]

On 25 Oct 1859, Catherine Worden (age 29, Spinster, daughter of Francis Worden, Bargeman) married William Irons (age 34, Widower, Labourer, son of James Irons, deceased) at the church in the parish of Egloshayle.[4] The marriage was registered in Bodmin, Cornwall in the last quarter of the year.[5]

Catherine and William had five sons:

  1. John Irons (1860-)
  2. Harry Irons (1862-1864)
  3. Mark Irons (1864-)
  4. Frank Worden Irons (1868-)
  5. William Irons (1870-)

In 1871 Catherine Irons (age 41) lived at Farm Houses & Cottages in St Breock with her husband Wm (45, Labourer), stepdaughter Elizabeth (16), and four sons: John (10), Mark (7), Frank (3), and Wm (0).[6]

Catherine's husband William Irons passed away in 1873.

In 1881 Catherine Irons (age 50) lived at Molesworth Street in St Breock with her four sons: John (20, Farm Labourer), Mark (16, General Servant), Frank (13, Labourer at Granet Works (Stone Mcht)), and William (10, Scholar), as well as boarder William Brinter (17, Labourer With Coal Merchant).[7]

In 1891 Catherine Irons (age 59) lived at Tregaddick in St Breock.[8]

Catherine Irons passed away in 1900, aged 69 years. Her death was registered in Bodmin in the first quarter of the year.[9]
