Biography

Sarah Ann “Sally” Pineo, daughter of John Pineo and Sarah Ells, was born about 1829 at Cornwallis Township, Kings, Nova Scotia. She died after 1871. A picture from an old Green-Weaver family album is annotated “Sarah Ann Pineo Borden (maybe Worden?) Green, suggesting that she was previously married to a man with the surname of Worden.

Sarah married second, George "William" Green, who was born in New Brunswick about 1812, and died possibly after 1901. He was the son of Willet Green and Hannah Vincent. William married first, Elizabeth “Betsy” Pineo, and second, her sister Sarah Ann “Sally” Pineo.

While William Green’s first wife, Elizabeth Pineo, is buried in Cornwallis, Kings, Nova Scotia, no records have been found in Kings County for the death or burial of William Green or his second wife, Sarah Ann Pineo.

Ruben Greene’s children — Charlene Custer said their names were Rufus, Hilbard, Maude and Benjamin, born around 1900 or after. Could there be some confusion with Vincent Green’s children, Rufus, Hibbert, and Maude of a previous generation? 10. Waite GREENE (Glass) b. 22 Jan 1871 Pereau, Kings, NS, Canada

William Green appeared on the census of 1871 Lower Pereau, Kings, Nova Scotia; occupation farmer. There is a William Green, farmer, age 78, listed in the 1891 Census for Wickham Parish, Queen’s Co. New Brunswick. However, his wife’s name is shown as Elizabeth. A 40-year old son Charles Green is living with them and William Green did have a son named Charles, but that Charles Green also had a wife and children and they emigrated in the summer of 1891 from Blomidon, Kings County to Kenduskeag, Maine.

On the 1901 Canada Census for Wickham there is also a William Green, lodger (living with the family of George and Ada McLean), age 89, born July 28, 1821 (should be 1812?). William Green’s family was from Queen’s County, New Brunswick. If he retired back to his ancestral land, then this could be the same person and he died after 1901.
