Born Dec. 20, 1938 in Stone Mills, NY, he was a man that wore many hats. Farming, painting contractor, auto repair & towing, heavy equipment hauling to name a few. Richard is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marlene Jacobsen Worden of Haw River, NC, brother, Delbert and his 5 children-Tim and his partner Doreen Smith, Sandy Creek, NY – Charlene and her husband Randy Eastman, Paulyn and her husband David Eastman, both in Woodville. NY, Tom and his partner Immy Garnsey, Sandy Creek, NY and Brian and his wife Diane, Woodville, NY. Also his grandchildren. Charles, Mick, Steven, Dustin, Tashia, Chris, Jackie, Evan, Katie, Karlye, Erika, Casey, John, Harmony, Jeffrey and Brittney. 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and his North Carolina adopted kids, Michele Bradshaw, Chris Hatley, and Wayne Dodson.
After retirement, “Dick” founded the Northern New York Chapter of Hunters Helping Kids, a director of the national organization located in Haw River, N.C., and devoted the rest of his life to getting hundreds of kids involved in outdoor activities.
Richard and Marlene were long time residents of Sandy Creek and moved to North Carolina last April.
