Howard David Worden Sr. 1940-2015

Dave was born November 13th 1940 in Otsego, Michigan to Esther (Coplin) and Lester Worden. He was the youngest of eight children: three sisters and four brothers. Dave peacefully went to be with his Lord on Sunday evening March 15th 2015.

He married Wanda (Graham) on December 1959 in Springfield Missouri. They had two sons; David Jr., who is married to Kathy, and Charles who is married to Spring. He thoroughly enjoyed and treasured his four grandchildren; Ashley, Christopher, Skylar, Cooper, and great-granddaughter Rory Beth.

To be a partner and general manager of Howard Johnson’s Motor Lodge, he brought the family to Austin in 1970 and moved to Round Rock in 1978. Dave was instrumental in the development and management of the Austin South Plaza Hotel. He was very active in the hospitality industry on a local and national basis. Later, Dave and Wanda purchased and operated two motels in Cameron, Texas until he retired and sold the motels in 1989.

Celebration and remembrance of Dave’s friendship and family life will be held at Beck’s Funeral Home on Friday evening 6:00-8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Round Rock, at 11:00 AM Saturday March 21st.
