About Marvin James Worden Marvin James WORDEN , 70, passed away Dec. 5, 2009, in a snowmobile accident.
Born March 29, 1939, New Virginia, Iowa, to Melvin Claude and Fern Barr Worden. He lived on the family farm in Iowa until they moved to Loveland. Marvin graduated from Loveland High in 1957. He earned a bachelor’s in education from the University of Northern Colorado and a master’s from Colorado State.
He taught school in Saratoga, Wyo., from 1963-1973 and worked as a drag line electrician, Carbon Power and Light electrician, and a manager for Kasper Oil before retiring from the Wyoming Department of Transportation.
Marvin was the father of four children with his first wife, Lou Ann Bert. After his divorce, Marvin married Lila Peach in January 1982.
He was preceded in death by his infant son Lane Merle and father Melvin Claude.
He is survived by wife Lila; mother Fern; Aunt Mami (Dwight) Hafner, Stuart, Iowa; brother Merle (Roberta) Worden, Burlington, Colo.; sisters Mary Worden Chrisman, Andover, Ohio, Melody Worden (Jim) Busch of Windsor, Colo.; children Lannette (Andy) Rohwer, Denver, Leah Bond of Belfair, Wash., Linda Worden of Denver; stepchildren Rodney (Jacque) Peach, Rawlins, Wyo., Brian (Irene) Peach of Austin, Texas, Janet Peach of Las Vegas; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Marv was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Ryan Park Volunteer Fire Department and Search and Rescue, Saratoga Lions Club, Saratoga Men’s Golf Association, a former Jaycee and on the Platte Valley Independent Living Foundation board.
He enjoyed golfing, snowmobiling, hunting, guiding, skiing and stock car racing.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 250, Saratoga, WY 82331; or Ryan Park Volunteer Fire Department, Hcf63, Box 9L, Saratoga, 82331, or a charity of choice.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Saratoga.
