WORDEN, The Venerable Gordon Suddenly in hospital on Wednesday August 28th, 2013 at the age of 67. Dear son of the late Sally (nee Bradley) and the late Harold Worden (late Dorothy Healey). Dearly beloved husband of Leslie (nee MacEachern). Loving father of Rebecca Worden (Peter McCracken), Emily Worden-Kwok (Jeffrey) and Jessica Worden-Bolling (Vance). Cherished grandfather of Zachary, Kaella, Sarah and Liam. Dear brother of Jill MacFarlane (Dave), Joanne Priest (Gordon), Judy Fredette. Greg McCloskey (Lois) and the late Brian McCloskey. Dear brother-in-law of Dick MacEachern (Kathy). Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry 315 McLeod Street on Sunday September 1, 2013 from 2-5 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Christ Church Cathedral (entrance on Sparks Street), Ottawa on Monday September 2, 2013 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the PWRDF or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated by the family.

Gordon Worden was born on January 6, 1946. After doing a degree at Queens, he took his theological training at Huron. He was ordained a deacon on May 21, 1971. Before coming to St. Mark’s, he served in Smiths Falls, Mattawa, Strafford, and St. Lawrence East. He took his first service at St. Mark’s on March 4, 1984 and was inducted on St. Mark’s Day, April 25, 1984.

Gordon and Leslie MacEachern were married in St. Mark’s on October 16, 1971 so he had a special place in his heart for St. Mark’s already. Gordon and Leslie shared the Rectory with their daughters Rebecca, Emily, and Jessica.

In 1990, Gordon accepted the Bishop’s call to go to St. James’ Carleton Place, where he served many years as Archdeacon. The Venerable Gordon died suddenly in hospital on Wednesday August 28th, 2013 at the age of 67. He is greatly missed by his family, friends, and those that knew him.
