The first five children of Samuel and Jane Worden were baptized in St Kew, the remaining nine in Endellion.[6] The move from St Kew to Endellion apparently took place in about 1786.
Mary Worden married Samuel Billing in Endellion on 25 February 1800. The marriage register entry says that Samuel Billing was a bachelor and a ship builder, Mary Worden was a spinster, and the marriage was by licence. Bride and groom both signed their names, and the marriage was witnessed by Samuel Worden and Jenneyfor Worden, who also both signed.[7]
The witness Samuel Worden was presumably Mary's father, although her grandfather and second brother were also both Samuels. The second witness was surely her eldest sister.
Because of new laws passed in 1812, baptism and burial records from 1813 on usually have more information than the earlier records. In particular the baptism records for Joseph Billing and Jane Worden Billing say that the family lived at Port Isaac (as we might have guessed from Samuel's profession). At Jane's baptism Samuel was described as a shipwright, which to me sounds less grand than ship builder: I would expect that a ship builder would be the boss employing quite a few workers, whereas a shipwright might merely be one of the workers. But maybe in the early nineteenth century "ship builder" and "shipwright" carried exactly the same connotations.
At Joseph's baptism Samuel was described as an Inn Keeper.
Samuel Billing is mentioned in the 1833–1834 document The History of Port Isaac and Port Quin, written by Dr Frederick Trevan of Port Isaac.[16] It says that he was a shipwright, married Mary Worden, and had four sons and two daughters.
Mary was buried in Endellion on 18 September 1838.[17] Her age at death was recorded as 57, which is consistent with the 1780 baptism date if she was over two months old when baptized.
Samuel can be found in 1841 census records, still living in Port Isaac. He was described as a Ship Carpenter. The others in the household were Samuel's son Joseph and daughter-in-law Susan, and Joseph and Susan's three young children.[18][19] Samuel Billing of Port Isaac, aged 72, was buried in Endellion on 7 January 1848.[20]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mary by comparing test results with other carriers of her ancestors' mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mary:
