Memories from a grandchild:

Grandpa Worrall was sent to hospital before Queens Birthday weekend. We went to visit him on the Friday and we were so upset that he was in a two bed room, that they had squashed two more beds in. So there were 4 old men in their last days in a room that could hardly have visitors in as well. Bruce was staying with Aunty Mary Key. Our family came home from mass on Sunday 5th to find gran crying her eyes out and my bridesmaid Diane comforting her (she was staying with us, and didn't come to church, as she was Anglican and their services was later in the morning). The hospital had rung to say Charles had died in the early hours. I was very close to my grandfather and when I heard this, I just took off and walked around the streets of Wadestown for three hours by myself. Gran was so brave saying the wedding must go ahead, that grandpa would have wanted it and we had guests already there from all over the country. So it was a very subdued wedding, and Dad and Mum said to go off on honeymoon and not wait for funeral. I gave Gran my wedding bouquet for grandpa's grave. But I could bear to visit the grave, later.
