Biography

William Worth was born in , England.

William was born in 1876. His parents were William Worth and Eliza Docking.[1]

In 1881 William lived with his parents and siblings at 12 Harker Street, Skelton, Yorkshire.[2]

By 1891, William and his family had moved to 31 Carlin How, Skinningrove, Yorkshire,[3]

When the 1901 census was taken Ada Riggins (Ada Williams) is listed as a boarder, living with William Worth at Hemsworth, Yorkshire. At that time William and Ada already had a child, listed on the census as William A. Worth.[4]

He married Ada Williams on 12 Apr 1910 in Rotherham, Yorkshire..[5] Ada and William had already been together for several years and had four children.

The family lived at 19, Norwood Street, Dalton, Rotherham, in 1910. Ada's brother Thomas Williams gave this as his address when he married Louisa Shephard on 5 September 1910 at Rotherham Register Office. Ada and her husband William were witnesses at this wedding.[6][7]

In 1911 when the census was taken the family were living at Kirk Merrington, Ferryhill, Bishop Auckland, Durham. [8]

By 1915 they had returned to Yorkshire and were living at Town Street, Hemsworth, Yorkshire when William enlisted to the York and Lancaster Regiment of the army at Barnsley on 20 May 1915 during the First World War. He served until the 14 November 1917 when he was discharged with a pension.[5]

William passed away in 1828.[9] He was buried on 4 April 1928 in Wombwell Cemetery, Yorkshire. [10]

Military Service

William enlisted to the York and Lancaster Regiment of the army at Barnsley on 20 May 1915 during the First World War. He served until the 14 November 1917 when he was discharged with a pension.[5]
