Isabel Worthington was the daughter of Peter Worthington and Isabel Anderton.[1] Her birth, death, and marriage dates of are not recorded, but her ancestry and some details of her widowhood have been discovered by researchers. See G2G post here.

"It is well known that Peter Worden's mother's maiden name was Isabel Worthington, the primary source being the 1567 pedigree of the family of Worthington of Blainscough recorded at the Heraldic Visitation of Lancashire by William Flower in 1567."[2] In an 1870 transcript of the Visitation, she is reported as "Isabell, maryed to Robert Weurden [Warden] of Clayton."[3][4]

Isabel married Robert Worden before 1569.[1] Robert and Isabel were indicated as being married in the Pedigree Chart found in the Visitation of Lancaster, 1567 which would indicate their marriage probably occurred prior to that date.[3]

The known children of Isabel and Robert are:

Isabel became a widow in 1580 upon the death of her husband Robert; [1] she was still living in 1583-4, when she was involved in a series of legal proceedings regarding the Worden family's tenancy on their lands in Clayton and the wardship of Robert's heir, William.[5]
In 1587, Isabel's brother, Robert Worthington testified that Robert Worden had wished to provide for his young children's "mariages and preferments". In a later article, researcher George Bolton states that this "leads me to think that Peter I had one or more sisters, a not unexpected fact but one which has escaped the records until now.... Female children are not specifically mentioned but clearly, this last remark refers to the subject of dowries."[5]
