Birth

On 12 April 1876 William Wratt was born to George Wratt and Catherine Medhurst. [1]

Change of Name

1900 Change of surname to Medhurst, his mother's maiden name. [2]
A Change.—Probably owing to the plague, a Pahiatua resident named " William Wratt" notifies that he intends to change his name to "William Medhurst."

Marriage

1902 On 26 March 1902 Aurelia Christianne Jensen and William Medhurst (Wratt) were married. [3]. Aurelia was born in 1877 the daughter of Maren and Rasman Waldemar.

MEDHURST-JENSEN.
A very quiet but pretty wedding was celebrated at St Luke's Church, Christchurch, on the 26th March 1902, between William Medhurst, of Pahiatua, and Aurelia Jensen, youngest daughter of the late R. W. Jensen, of Napier. The bridesmaid was Miss Lily Wratt, sister of the bridegroom . .. a reception was held at Mrs Jensen's home, Burham street. Mr and Mrs Medhurst left on their honeymoon trip to Dunedin.

On 10 March 1903 Irene Maren Medhurst was born to "Amelia" Christianna and William Medhurst. [6]

Death

On 7 August 1903 William Medhurst passed away, aged 27 [7]

Obituary LOCAL AND GENERAL NEWS. NEW ZEALAND HERALD, VOLUME XL, ISSUE 12347, 12 AUGUST 1903 [8]
After a long and painful illness, Mr. William Medhurst, son of Mr. G. Wratt, a well-to-do local resident, passed away at his father's residence at the early age of 27. The deceased, who leaves a wife and child, until a few months ago, carried on a saddlery business at Pahiatua. He was brought up in Dannevirke, where be learned his trade. As an athlete and a member of rifle corps and other societies he was well and popularly known during bis residence in the town. Death came as a happy release. The late Mr. Medhurst was accorded a military funeral, the mournful ceremony being largely attended.
