The Catholics from southern Ireland came up and burned many homes including that of the Wray family. Mrs. Wray was pregnant at the time and the shock caused her death. Then Mr. Wray took his three daughters to the United States where his sister was living in Vermont. Mr. Wray died aboard ship crossing over and was buried at sea. His sister met the ship and took the three girls into her home and reared them. The one named, Sarah, was our grandmother who married Rudophus Wetherell in Vermont where Eva Wetherell Peterson was born. The family moved to Wisconsin where Wm. and Rudolphus Jr. and Mamie were born. Wm. (Dick) was born in Fond du Lac, another one of those three girls lived in Northern Wisconsin and was married. I visited her in the small village but I've forgotten the name of it. The third girl was married to a man named Green, and lived in Escanaba, Mich. I visited my fathers cousin John Green in Huron, So. Dakota one afternoon. He told me there were two boys as well as the three girls. He said he had visited them. The awful tradegy is still going on in Ireland will it ever end?
