Mary was born about 1857-58. She and Sarah are likely to have emigrated to New Zealand in 1880-81, arriving at Port Chalmers aboard the Canterbury in January 1881. Samuel emigrated separately and they settled in Mosgiel where Samuel worked as a carter.
Mary Jane passed away in Mure Street, Mosgiel in 1918[1] and is buried at East Taieri cemetery.[2] Her probate records indicate she was born in Donegal, Ireland.[3]
