Matthew Thomas Wrenn was the son of, William James Wrenn, a Confederate Soldier killed in March 1862. Raised by his grandfather Peter Wrenn 1801-1874. Matthew's mother, Mary Wiley, had died in 1859 so he was left an orphan at birth.
