Polly was born in Coventry, Connecticut. Her Mother, Mary "Jeffers" Wright died soon after the birth of Polly and her twin sister, Bestey. Roswell married second, Abigail Benton who took on the job of raising two year old twins, one of whom was a dwarf.
Polly married Harvey Kingsbury on April 7, 1824. They were step cousins. His mother, Ruth Benton Kingsbury, was the sister of Abigail Benton Wright.
She is buried in the Center Cemetary in Coventry.
Note that one Internet source refers to Polly as "Mary". This may be a confusion with her daughter Mary. According to a visitor to this page: "There is no need for the note about possible confusion with the name Mary. Polly is the standard nickname for people named Mary. I must have 50 Mary's in my file who were called Polly."[1]
Note: This individual has always been Polly: Coventry birth, marriage and death records. Her gravestone. Her sampler. Initials on her thimble, spoons and forks, her homespun linens. Her school notebook. Her journal. Address on a letter written to her. Sworn testamony in the case of her father's revolutionary pension file. And in our family's oral tradition. [2]
