My mother's paternal family ancestry which we traced back to 1400s in Cornwall England
According to the Certificate of Birth and Marriage License for my grandfather George Goodwin Wright, his father was a Wm (William) Quinn. Yet he was given the surname Wright, which was his mother's last name. I'm looking for any help researching the Quinn line in Hartford, CT - 1860's - 1900's.
My paternal grandmother's madien name. Actually the surname was changed from Fontaine after the family came to Massachetuts from Fr. Canada some time in the mid 1840's I believe.
Surname for my father and his father, but according to official CT documents my grandfather's father was William Quinn. His mother was Elizabeth Wright - my great grandmother. My grandfather's official birth certificate indicates that he was "illegitimate".

We were curious if you were interested in helping establish a page/presence for your society on WikiTree, and/or if you have any ideas on how to get your society involved on WikiTree. Let me know if you are interested and we'll go from there! Thanks!! - Summer

Just checking in with a few quick tips:

Free Space pages are wiki pages for supplementing your family history. They can be used to profile anything of significance such as a special pet, a meaningful event, a school you attended, a family heirloom .... They're "anything pages".

Not sure what to include in a profile? Check out our Biography Ideas and Styles and Standards help pages.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, please ask!

Hi George, You might want to change your Privacy level to Private with Public Family Tree or Private with Public Biography and Family Tree. WikiTree needs to see your Family Tree tab to make DNA and cousin connections along your family lines. I use Private with Public Biography and Family Tree, so click on my name to get ideas of how that can work on your own profile.

Hello George!

How are you doing? Hope you're enjoying our site.

Our primary vision is to build a collaborative tree so please make sure to look for duplicates on WikiTree before adding a profile. Having dates and locations attached to every person assists in our mission as well.

Feel free to check out How To Use WikiTree. It's a great step-by-step guide.

Also Help Index with links to topics you may have questions on. Don't forget our G2G Forum where many of our generous members help each other out.

And of course, I'm here to help in any way I’m able. Just ask!

I noticed you plan to or already uploaded a GEDCOM. Here's a link to instructions on the step-by-step gedcom import at WikiTree , including screenshots that you might find helpful. You might also want to check out our gedom instructions

Please keep in mind that our vision is to build a collaborative tree with just one profile per person, so please make sure to look for duplicates on WikiTree before adding a profile. Thank you for taking the time to go through your gedmatches.

TIP: if your ancestor was born over two hundred years ago, there's a very good chance she/he already has a profile on wikitree.

I have been working on the Wright/Penhallow (Harlow) family genealogy for about 10 years and have gathered a fair amount of information. While I have Penhallow family information going back to the 1500s, I'm running into some difficulty tracing the Connecticut Wright family back into the 1800s and 1700s.

I also have DNA test information available for sharing.

I would welcome the opportunity to share what I have learned and to learn from others on WikiTree. I fully support the mission and rules of the community.
