Biography

The Wright home at Rowan - left to right - William & Sarah Wright and their sons John, Edwin & George

The family emigrated to Taranaki in the 1880s and took up farming in Taranaki, first at Rowan and then in Mangatoki. In order to earn cash with which to develop their farm, William and his sons took contracting work, clearing survey lines for roads and farm boundaries.

George William Wright is buried in the General Methodist Section of the cemetery at Eltham, with his mother and father, William and Sarah Wright and brother John, in plot 2371.
