Biography

Sarah Wright was born in 1685, the daughter of Edmund and Sarah (Wright) Wright of Oyster Bay, NY[1]

Circa 1716, she married Samuel Birdsall, the son of Benjamin Birdsall and Mercy Forman of Oyster Bay[1] [2] [3]. Doherty notes that a few sources mistakenly name her as Rose[4], however NYGBR (1934) page 120-121 provides a bible record for the marriage of Sarah Wright and Samuel Birdsall[2]

Their children included:

  1. Sarah, born September 11, 171?, who married Wright Coles November 8, 1730, and who died May 18, 1799[1]
  1. Samuel, born June 1, 1717[1] [2]
  2. Martha, born 1720[1]
  3. Benjamin, born June 10, 1720, who married Martha Smith[1] [2]
  4. Jacob, born June 3, 1722, who married Sarah Weeks[1] [2]
  5. Daniel, born June 1, 1724, who married Mercy Townsend[1], and had a son named Samuel whose will was dated June 11, 1811[2]

She died before 1726, when her husband remarried. [5] Birdsall Bible records, [Long Island Source Records, p. 443] clearly states that "Sarah Birdsall wife of Samuel Birdsall dafter to Edmond and Sarah Wright departed this life December the 13th day in the 70th year of her age, 1754" 2nd marriage must be questioned.

Sarah Wright was born in 1685, the daughter of Edmund and Sarah (Wright) Wright of Oyster Bay, NY[1]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Sarah by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Sarah:

Wright-52942 and Wright-18555 appear to represent the same person because: They were born in the same place at the same time and a duplicate was created in error.

I am totally confused by your comment. The parents are the same, the husband is the same, the birth is the same. Why do you think these are NOT the same person? Please, you must provide the sources to prove they are NOT the same person.

My brother was on my computer, and he thinks I spend too much time on here and he did that, so I think he was trying to be funny. I'm sorry for that and he no longer has access to my PC. and yes, they are the same.

Wright-52942 and Wright-18555 appear to represent the same person because: Please agree to merge these duplicate profiles.

DO NOT ADD PARENTS BEFORE MERGING. The (correct) parents on Wright-18555 will end up being the parents of the merged profile. Thanks!

It seems unlikely (but not impossible) that her mother was only 18 when she was born. Is it possible that her mother was not Sarah (Townsend) Wright (1674-1746)?

I have removed her incorrect parents and proposed a merge with a duplicate profile, Wright-18555, which has the correct parents.

Sorry I was so wrong, and I believed Ancestry.com information and by now I should know better.

So, thank you for fixing it.

I have also removed the from my ancestry, com family tree.

Please also remove these impossible sources: West Yorkshire, England, Church of England Births and Baptisms, 1813-1910, and London, England, Church of England Births and Baptisms, 1813-1920

She was born and died in America, before 1754. There is absolutely no chance of finding sources for her information in either of those.

Please re-read the instructions for pre-1700 profiles: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles

which includes this information: "A family tree on Geni, Ancestry, MyHeritage, Family Search, or any other user-generated tree (like WikiTree itself) is not a sufficient source for creating a pre-1700 profile. They may be valuable resources and may help you find original, reliable sources, but they must never be the only source."

I went over that information for per-1700. Why, I post that information from Geni because it looks the same as Wright-18555.
