William was first recorded in Baltimore MD in 1691 when he purchased 100 achres from Robert and Deborah Benger. He appears on Baltimore Tax lists from 1692 to 1705. In 1714 he married Julianna Benbow. She was at least his second wife since most of his children were born well before 1714. He made his will in 1724, which mentions his oldest son William, other sons Jacob and Solomon, and daughters Mary Watkins, Christina Ditto, and Elizabeth Wright. Julianna Wright qualified as the admin of the estate.
