Edward Clifton Burnham and Mary Elizabeth Wright were married in Pawtucket, Rhode Island on 12 September 1893. Edward, age 29 years, an instructor at Brown University, born in Smithfield, Rhode Island, was the son of Charles C. & Lucinda Burnham. Mary, age 27, born in West Brewster, Massachusetts, was the daughter of William & Emeline Wright. Both Edward and Mary were residents of Pawtucket and it was the first marriage for both.[1]
Mary E. (Wright) Burnham, wife of the late Edward C. Burnham, died on 16 November 1944, age 79 years. She was born in Brewster, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late William Wright and Emeline Newcomb. She graduated from Pawtucket High School and the Rhode Island Normal School. She taught school in Westerly and Attleboro and resided in Hopedale for many years when her husband was designer for the Draper Corporation. She had resided with her sister, Mrs. E. E. Burnham for the last three years of her life. Besides her sister, she was survived by two sons, Malcolm W. Burnham of Pawtucket, and Kenneth N. Burnham of Fall River; two grandsons, Lt. Charles E. Burnham of Dayton, Ohio, and Wright A. Burnham, apprentice seaman, Ithaca, New York; and two granddaughters, Mary E. Burnham of Ithaca, and Grace D. Burnham of Pawtucket. She was buried in Hopedale Cemetery on 18 November 1944.[2]
