Joseph, a Quaker, was born 18th of the 4 Mo. 1781, as recorded by the South River Monthly Meeting (sometimes referred to as the Bedford Meeting) at Lynchburg, VA. He was the son of Joseph Wright, I and Elizabeth Unknown.[1] He passed away on 27 May 1860 and is buried in Alliance City Cemetery. Alliance, Stark Co., Ohio. [2]
There are 2 records of his marriage to Sarah dated 17 August 1802, Bedford County. In the minister's record Sarah is using her nickname, Sally.[3] Joseph was disowned on 4 Sep 1802 from the Goose Creek Monthly Meeting after being precautioned because of his marriage to Sarah Edgar, a non-Quaker.[4][5] The Quaker minutes record the bond, dated 8 Sept 1802, as well as recording the marriage date. Alderson Weeks officiated and William Wright gave surety. Sarah's given name is used and her father is named as James Edgar.[6]
In 1927, 1930 and 1931 Joseph paid Personal Property tax in Columbiana County.[7][8][9] He is shown in the 1830 census for Butler Township, although his father doesn't appear there. John Schooley lives next door.[10]
Note
Joseph appears in the Quaker Encyclopedia with his parents and siblings[11]

Records were kept by the Quaker Meeting houses in Bedford County, Virginia and Campbell County, Virginia of all marriage bonds (Quaker and non-Quaker) issued in those two counties. So Sarah Edgar would not have to become a Quaker to appear in the marriage bonds/marriages issued section.
