Biography

Hannah was born about 1818 probably at Manchester, Ontario, New York the daughter of Ephraim Wright and Lydia LeMunyon. [1]

Hannah and Zimri Finch married 18 September 1835 at Auburn, Geauga, Ohio.[2][3]

Zimri purchased property from Hannah's father Ephraim in Shiawassee Twp., Shiawassee, Michigan about 1836 - Liber A Page 128. He sold the same property to John Miller Liber J Page 232.

The 1840 United States Population Census lists Zimri Finch as a head of household at Shiawassee Township, Shiawassee, Michigan.[4]

The three oldest children were born in Michigan - Martin (1836), Newton (1838) and Harriet (1840). Then Maria (1845), Martha (1846) and Eleanor (1848) were born in Indiana.

Hannah died sometime after the birth of daughter Eleanor about 1848 and probably before the 1850 Census. The family was living in Indiana at this time.[5] No burial location for Hannah is known.

Research Notes

Zimri was used several times as a Finch family given name that has resulted in some co-mingling on various Internet family sites.

Eleanor, youngest child attributed to Hannah was born in Indiana and age 2 on 1850 US Census. All six children that have been attributed to Hannah and Zimri appear on the 1850 Census. However Hannah does not appear on 1850 Census with the family and very likely had died prior to it.

Zimri Finch remarried 12 November 1850 in Cass County, Michigan -Dorinda (Lumbard) Cushman . They appear to have divorced as she appears on the 1875 Kansas state census as "Cushman" with her children.

Zimri married a third time in 20 October 1864 in St. Joseph County, Indiana - Susannah (Swift) Betrand. He died in 1876 and she survived him and married an Adams.

From Shiawassee, Michigan, Zimri went to the southwest corner of Michigan/northern Indiana - Berrian and Cass Counties, Michigan and St. Joseph County, Indiana are adjoining. See Michiana. [1].
